Clear expectations for computer service

Last updated August 30, 2026

Approval comes first

Submitting a website request does not authorize paid work. I will explain the proposed service and price. Additional paid work beyond the agreed service requires customer approval before it is performed.

Pricing and parts

Prices marked “From” can change with the condition and complexity of the job. I explain the price before additional paid work. Parts are separate unless a price specifically says they are included. I confirm parts and pricing before purchase or installation.

The $15 diagnostic fee is waived whenever you approve any paid work on that computer.

Response and confirmed appointments

Repair requests normally receive a response within 30 minutes during reasonable waking hours. Late-night requests may receive a response the following morning.

Service is by confirmed appointment at my private home office in Union Beach, New Jersey. I provide the exact address and drop-off instructions after confirming the appointment. Walk-in visits without an appointment are not accepted.

Turnaround

Turnaround depends on the repair, computer condition, and parts availability. I provide an estimate after reviewing the job.

30-day limited workmanship warranty

The 30-day limited workmanship warranty covers defects caused by completed repair or installation labor.

I will correct covered labor at no additional charge. If covered workmanship cannot reasonably be corrected, I will refund the affected labor charge.

Installation workmanship is covered for customer-supplied parts, but the customer-supplied part itself is not covered.

Replacement parts remain subject to any warranty provided by their manufacturer or seller.

This limited workmanship warranty does not cover:

  • Unrelated or newly developed problems
  • Pre-existing damage
  • Normal hardware failure
  • Malware reinfection
  • Customer changes, misuse, or tampering
  • Accidents, liquid damage, or power events
  • Later software, driver, or operating-system updates
  • Defects in customer-supplied or third-party parts

To request warranty service, notify Ryan Fixes Tech and provide the computer for inspection within 30 days of the completed service.

This limited warranty does not restrict any rights that cannot legally be restricted.

Back up important data

Customers are responsible for keeping current backups of important files. Many repairs do not affect data, but troubleshooting, drive failure, malware, Windows reinstallation, and other work can carry a risk of data loss. Ask about backup before service if needed.

Hardware and existing conditions

Computer components can fail from age, wear, hidden defects, or pre-existing damage, including during normal troubleshooting. Any unexpected issue will be explained and no unrelated paid work will proceed without approval.

Malware and security

Reasonable efforts will be made to detect and remove malware or adware included in an agreed service. No service can guarantee that every infection, change, or consequence can always be discovered or reversed.

Passwords and access

Do not send passwords through the public website. If access to Windows or another account is needed for an approved service, the safest practical method will be discussed privately.

Scope and specialist work

Windows desktops and laptops are the primary focus. Advanced forensic data recovery, highly specialized board repair, and work outside the agreed scope may be declined or referred elsewhere.
